Christmas has always meant more to me than decorations or presents. Some of my favorite memories growing up are from the 1980s — standing in front of the tree, wearing pajamas that didn’t quite fit right, waiting to hear if Santa had already been to the house. I believed completely. And for a few short years, that belief made the world feel bigger, kinder, and full of possibility.

As I got older, I realized how rare and fragile that kind of magic really is — and how quickly it disappears.
